YDL match 1 Kilmarnock Sunday 24 April 2016

Sunday saw the opening match of this season’s YDL at Kilmarnock . Hoping to build on the previous week’s Forth Valley League win the u13s and 15s team struggled a bit due to so many absences.

Nevertheless some fantastic performances, PBs in challenging windy conditions and an opportunity for our athletes to try events that they would not normally specialise in .

Thanks to to all this those athletes who did take part, to our full team of officials and to Team Manager Linda Smith for organising us so well.

East Districts plea for volunteers

East District T&F Championships – Grangemouth Stadium 13th & 14th May 2016.

The above event takes place on the same weekend as the two other District Champs, this means the hard working Officials are severely stretched. As such we need volunteers from all clubs to help us deliver a successful event for the athletes. So far we have identified the need for an another 33 volunteers each day to help support the officials. Some of these areas only need to be filled for a few hours and hopefully if we get enough help for the other duties we can put them on a rota basis.

Additional help required as follows:

Officials:- Ideally we need another 15 volunteers to help the officials in either the Track or Field events – this would be an ideal chance for any newer official to learn from our more experienced ones and put their recent training into practice.

Declarations – Call Room – Seeding – Presentations: 12 required.

Distribute paperwork – Help move Hurdles -Take spectator entry money: 5 required.

We also require a Track Steward who should be competent in using a tablet device – which will be supplied

Lasswade AC Track and Field Availability 2016

With League competition fast approaching I have sent each member a form to complete.  (as above link)

 

It requests availability to be considered for selection for events. Whilst there will no doubt be changes over the summer it gives team managers a good starting point for team selection.

Last year we frankly struggled in the opening matches , primarily due to holiday commitments and I am keen to ensure Managers have the largest pool of available athletes to choose from.

Returns as quickly as possible please. Those who do not yet have Scottish Athletic Membership are requested to arrange as soon as possible in order that they can be considered eligible to compete.

Some time ago I circulated a fixtures list so that you could get them in the diary. Well the first league dates are fast approaching. Here is a breakdown until end May.
We were a bit slow out the blocks last year but finished strongly,let’s see if we can get full squads out from the beginning this year.
You could start letting your coaches know you are available for selection now.
