East District Cross Country League – Broxburn 12/01/2013

We hope that everyone had an enjoyable time over the Christmas period with their families and friends.

The New Year is almost upon us and we would like to thank everyone for their support in 2012 and wish you all the very best for 2013!

The final East District Cross Country League match takes place in just under two weeks on 12/01/2013.  We have had great support from athletes and parents for the first two matches that took place in Stirling and Livingston.  Lasswade AC are doing well and are well placed in a number of age groups, however in order to maintain or improve our position we need your support at this final league match.

It would be fantastic to see as many Lasswade AC athletes taking part as were at Livingston so please make every effort to compete at this event.

Endurance Session – Saturday 29 December 2012 @ 10.30am – Newbattle Playing Fields

An endurance group session  has been organised for  Saturday 29 December 2012 at 10.30am at Newbattle Playing Fields, Easthouses Road (opposite Newbattle High School) for any athlete who wishes to come along.

Please note there are no changing facilities or shelter so please check with Linda (07833 667489) or Kirk (07805 107857) prior to the session in case the weather is against us!

Training Thursday 27/12/2012 – Bonnyrigg

Will all endurance athletes who normally train at George V Park, Bonnyrigg on Thursday nights at 7.00pm please note that the pavilion is closed this week so there will be no training at night.

However, we do intend to meet at the pavilion on Thursday at 11.00am  for a training session.

As the changing facilities will be closed and there is no shelter it will have to be weather permitting,  so if it is raining  then we will have to cancel it.

Celtic Nations Cross Country International

Congratulations to Amy Frankland who has been selected to run for Scotland at the Celtic Nations Cross Country International next month in Cardiff, Wales.

This is well deserved as Amy has been running consistently well over the Cross Country this season.

Lasswade Athletes Named for Inter District Team

Congratulations to Magnus Tait (U13), Lauren Dickson (U13), Amy Frankland (U17) and Ross Matheson (U20) who have all been selected for the East of Scotland team for the Inter District Match taking place in Holyrood Park, Edinburgh on 05 January 2013.

Medals Success for Lasswade Athletes at Cupar

Plea for old Club Vests and spikes

If anyone has any old Club vests and spikes that are in fairly good condition that you no longer use or need and wish to donate to the Club could you give them to Linda Smith or any of the other Coaches.   These would be very useful for new members who have not yet managed to get their own.

Please note that with effect from Thursday 29 November 2012 the training times for athletes going to Dalkeith High School Campus are as follows:

  • Multi Events – 6.00 – 7.00   Keira Murray (Coach)
  • High Jump (indoors) – 7.30 – 8.30 Mark Szymanski (Coach)
  • Throws (outside) – 7.00 – 8.00 Margaret Benham/Ruth Szymanski
  • Sprints/Hurdles – 7.00 – 8.30 David McConnell

East District League Race (2) – Livingston 24/11/2012

The second match in the East District League Cross Country League took place at Livingston on Saturday.  One of our under 17 athletes, Callum Clark , has prepared a report of the race which is attached for your information.

Callum has mentioned in his report the number of athletes that were competing for the club at Livingston and it was fantastic to see the club so well represented.  A total of 46 athletes competed for the club.

We are doing well and the the final league match is at Broxburn on 12/01/2013.  It would be great to build on the numbers that competed at both Stirling and Livingston so please let’s keep the momentum going for this final meeting in January.

Please remember to put 12/01/2013 in your diaries.

Congratulations to Gareth Fleming who has been selected for the Scottish Schools’ Over 16 Boys’ Team for the Indoor Pentathlon International at the Emirates Arena on Saturday 1st December.
