Midlothian based Lasswade AC have achieved scottishathletics Club Accreditation.
The Club Accreditation programme recognises clubs who meet national standards of practice and who provide a safe and effective structure for members.
With this recent reward Lasswade AC become the third Club in the East Region to complete Club Accreditation.
Lasswade AC Chairman, Brian Wilson, said: “Gaining Club Accreditation status is a fantastic honour for the Club. The athletes, parents, coaches and committees have all worked very hard to achieve this recognition and it’s brilliant to see their efforts being rewarded. This award will enhance our performance and reassure parents and athletes that Lasswade Athletics Club is one of the best-run clubs in the whole of Scotland. We are now looking to the future and how we can continue to develop as a Club.
Jamie McDonald, scottishathletics Regional Development for the East Region added: “Lasswade Athletics Club fully deserves this award as they have clearly proven that they are a club with vision, ambition and a strong structure. It is clear that the cub committee have fully committed to being one of the best managed clubs in Scotland and by achieving scottishathletics Club Accreditation have demonstrated high standards of practice in all areas of their operations. Lasswade AC have also recently been accepted on to the new Club Together programme which will hopefully enhance the Clubs development even further. This is a new programme which brings together key partners to deliver the joint vision of increasing participation and improving performance.”
The coveted award was presented at their Club Championships at Meadowbank Sports Centre. Lasswade Athletics Club has gone from strength to strength in recent years and has a membership of more than 130 athletes across all disciplines.
The East District Cross Country Relays took place at Camperdown Country Park in Dundee on Saturday 08/10/2011.
Lasswade had two young female teams finishing 12th and 17th and two young male teams that finished 11th and 20th. There were some strong performances and a great team effort by all involved. Well done to all who took part.
The women’s team was incomplete with only Karen McKinlay representing the women on the day. Great effort Karen – Well done!
The men’s team put in a great effort and finished a creditable 7th team which could be our highest finishing position ever in the men’s event!
