Lasswade\u2019s Under 18 Ladies rounded off a superb indoor season with outstanding performances in the final of the Scottish Athletics Indoor League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aoife got the team underway in the high jump with a strong 2nd place finish, clearing 1.55m\u2014just 2cm shy of her PB. Beth followed with 4th place in the long jump, reaching 4.63m, also only 2cm off her best. Emma placed 6th in a competitive 60m hurdles field and had the satisfaction of clocking a new PB of 11.35s. Multi-eventer Morven was similarly close to her best, finishing 4th in the shot put with a throw just 6cm short of her PB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the halfway point, despite performing well across the board, Lasswade sat 5th out of the six qualifying teams. From that moment on, however, the momentum shifted dramatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cerys returned to the indoor track for the first time in a while and dominated the 800m. A powerful opening 400m of 66 seconds set her up perfectly, and she crossed the line in 2:19.51 to win by 3.5 seconds.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Beth, in only her second ever 60m race, delivered an impressive 2nd place in 8.35s\u2014a PB by 0.16s. With two events remaining, Lasswade had surged into 3rd place, with just two points separating the top three teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next up was Aoife in the 200m. Determined to break 26 seconds, she not only achieved her goal but smashed her PB with a superb 25.82 to take the win. That result set up a nail-biting finale with only the 400m left to run.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Now tied for first in the team standings, Lasswade\u2019s hopes rested on Morven. Pressure is nothing new to her\u2014her 800m finishes in pentathlons have often propelled her into medal positions\u2014and once again she delivered. A blistering opening lap put her in control at the bell, and although the chasers closed in, she held firm to take victory in 59.90s: her first time under 60 seconds and more than half a second off her PB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A well deserved result for the team and the coaches who have been working with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
