Greg Louden and Guy Learmonth produced terrific performances at the English U20 Championships at Bedford over the weekend. They both qualified comfortably from Saturday's heats and semi-finals to qualify for Sunday's finals of their events.
In the 800m final, Guyran a new PB time of 1:49.23 to finish fourth, while Greg ran a season's best time (48.45s) as he collected the silver medal in the 400m final.
Four teams were competing today (13 June 2010) at Grangemouth at the Junior 3 x 800m Relay Championships.
The U13 Girls team were Rachel Louden, Mhairi Kristoffersen and Rachel Hutchison and the U13 Boys team were Kyle Mackenzie, Callum Grahame and Fraser Cousin. Neither the girls or boys made it through to the final however both teams performed well and gained valuable experience at championship level.
The U15 Girls team were Amy Frankland, Amy Smith and Fiona Matheson and the U15 Boys team were Ross Henderson, Iain Lawson and Jamie Cousin. Both teams made it through to their respective finals where the U15 Girls missed out on a bronze medal in 4th place and the boys finished a creditable 6th place.

Athletes from the club collected another four medals at today's U20 Scottish Championships at Grangemouth. Callum Wilson took the gold medal in the men's Triple Jump (13.57m), Guy Learmonth won the 800m, running 1m 52s, whileGreg Louden collected silver in the 400m, with a season's best time of 48.50s. Ross Matheson won the gold medal in the 1500m, and was also the winner of the Adrian Callan Trophy for middle distance runners.
The Club also had four teams competing in the 3 x 800m Relay Championships at the same venue, a report will be posted later.
A number of the club’s athletes were representing their schools at the Scottish Schools’ Championships at Grangemouth over the weekend, and returned with four gold medals.
Gareth Fleming took double gold in the Pole Vault with a new PB of 2.20m, and the Javelin with a throw of 33.68m.Gareth also finished fourth in the High Jump (1.40m).
Rachel Robertson won the Long Jump competition, beating her previous PB distance five times in a series of jumps ranging from 5.04 – 5.09m.Rachel also ran 13.63s in her 100m heat, and 27.90s in her 200m heat.
Ross Matheson claimed the gold medal in the 1500m in a time of 4:06.58.
There was further success for the club at Wishaw on Sunday in the Scottish Inter Regional Championships. Guy Learmonth, representing the East Region team, took first place in the Men's 800m A string race in a time of 1.50.95s.
Lasswade Athletics Club’s U15 Girls carried on their fine form from the indoor season to record some great performances, and win more medals at the Scottish Closed Outdoor Championships at Wishaw on Saturday.
PBs were the order of the day, as Katie Purves collected double gold in the 200m and 75m Hurdles, improving her PB times to 26.50s and 11.91s respectively.
Ellen Kristofferesen collected silver in the High Jump with a jump of 1.50m, silver in the pole vault (2.30m), and took the bronze in the 75m Hurdles, running a new PB time of 12.55s in her heat.
In the Long Jump event, Rachel Robertson twice jumped a new PB of 5.00m as she claimed the silver medal, and also ran a new PB time of 28.12s in her 200m heat to qualify for the semi final, where she ran 28.13s, narrowly missing out on qualification for the final. Rachel also finished 5th in her 100m heat in a time of 13.90s.
Erin Feeley came fourth in the Shot Put with a throw of 8.42m and Fiona Matheson recorded a time of 5:25.38 in the 1500m final.
