Unfortunately due to Meadowbank being double booked the first match of the JSB Forth Valley League on 28 April 2010 will now take place at GRANGEMOUTH.
A bus is being organised to leave from Lasswade High School at 5.15pm on Wednesday 28/4/2010 and will cost £3.00 for all athletes and supporters who are travelling by the bus.
All athletes who have been selected can they please let either Linda Smith or Margaret Benham know if you they available asap.
The National Six Stage Road Relay took place in Livingston on 03/04/2010. Our mens team finished a creditable 17th place and were at one point during the race in 13th place. Well done to all the guys who took part. For the the full results please click on the attached link.
Well done to Ross Matheson who continued his excellent form at the weekend by finishing off the Cross Country season and representing Scotland East with a win in the U17 Men's race at the UK Inter-Counties Cross Country Championships and McCain Cross Challenge Final at Cofton Park, Birmingham.
Congratulations to our U15 Girls’ team who ended the 2009/10 indoor season in style by claiming the Scottish Athletics Indoor League title at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow on Sunday.
The girls also took the bronze medal in the 4 x 200m relay held at the same arena.
The team consisted of Erin Feeley, Megan Fleming, Ellen Kristoffersen, Fiona Matheson, Katie Purves and Rachel Robertson, with Megan, Katie, Ellen and Rachel competing in the relay competition.
First up was the relay heat, in which the girls produced a confident performance to win comfortably and progress to the final.
With their qualification for the relay final in the bag, the girls could concentrate on the main event – the league final. First up was the high jump, with Ellen jumping 1.50m to take first place and set the tone for the rest of the day.This was followed by a fantastic PB time of 8.11 secs as Katie won the 60m.
With the next three events running in quick succession, the team sent out a message to their rivals as Rachel won the long jump with 4.92m, Katie won the hurdles in 9.29 secs (a new U15 Girls’ League Record), and Erin finished second in the shot putt with a new PB of 8.65m.
This put the girls in a strong position with three events to go, and when Fiona produced a huge PB of 2mins 33.33 secs finishing 3rd in the 800m, and Megan ran 31.19 secs finishing 5th in the 200m, the team only needed to finish fourth in the last event – the 300m to claim victory.Rachel, cheered on by the rest of the team, produced a terrific finish in a thrilling race to finish second in a time of 46.11 secs.
As Rachel was met at the finishing line by her team mates, the celebrations began on the track and in the stand.However, the girls soon had to focus on the relay final and they were determined to win another medal to complete the day.
The girls managed to deliver again, as Megan got the team of to a great start, and then a fantastic second leg from Katie put the team in a strong position.Ellen ran the third leg really well and completed a good changeover to Rachel in the last leg who held of a strong Shettleston runner to finish third and spark of more celebrations.
It was a great performance over the whole day by all the girls in the team.
The team would like to say a big thank you to the support from the parents, Team Managers – Linda and Margaret, and the cheerleaders Lisa, Mhairi, Stephanie and Mairead!
The meeting starts on Sunday at 12 noon with the relays.
Due to athletes having other commitments we now only have the U15 Girls competing in both the league final and relays.
Can all U15 girls who are competing in the relays be at the Kelvin Hall, Glasgow for 10.45am.
For U15 girls who are competing in league final the field events start at 12.30pm with the track events starting at 2.00pm. If you are not competing in the relays can you be at the Kelvin Hall in plenty time to warm up for your event.
